Human Resource Management (HRM) is pivotal in enhancing the performance of a company, XYZ Corporation. The company faces significant challenges stemming from a misalignment between its HR practices and the requirements. These challenges manifest in various forms, such as difficulties recruiting and retaining top talent, employee discontent, and an outdated approach to assessing job performance. To address these issues effectively, XYZ must fundamentally reevaluate its approach to managing its workforce, ensuring that its HR practices are closely aligned with the company's overarching objectives.

Currently, the company needs to work on imbalances in its workforce, with some departments being overstaffed while others face shortages. This lack of strategic planning can hamper operational efficiency and hinder the company's ability to adapt to changing market conditions. Additionally, XYZ must consider succession planning to mitigate the risks associated with key employees leaving the organization. By proactively identifying and developing potential successors for critical roles, XYZ can ensure business continuity and minimize disruptions.

Furthermore, XYZ Corporation's performance appraisal system requires a significant overhaul. The current system needs to improve in providing meaningful feedback to employees, ultimately hampering their ability to improve and grow within the organization. Additionally, the company must establish more precise criteria for recognizing and rewarding high performers. By implementing a fair and transparent performance evaluation process and instituting robust recognition and rewards programs, XYZ can boost employee morale and motivation, increasing productivity and better overall performance.

Questions:
a. Examine the HR practices and problems in XYZ.
b. Do you think HR practices are leading cause to organizational problems? How?
c. How can XYZ plan its workforce better and avoid issues like overstaffing or skill shortages?
d. Why is XYZ's current system for evaluating employee performance not working well? How can it be improved?
